The Institute for Mathematical Innovation (IMI) is delighted to welcome Dr Emiko Dupont as the new Deputy Director.
Dr Dupont will work alongside IMI’s two current Deputy Directors, Dr Thomas Burnett and Dr Luca Zanetti; the Director of IMI, Professor Tristan Pryer; and the Director of Operations, Dr Caroline Ang. As a team, they will continue building strong collaborations between IMI and University Departments with a focus on producing research with impact.
Emiko is a lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath and prior to that, she held postdoc positions at the University of Bath and the University of Edinburgh. Emiko has a broad mathematical background having completed a PhD in pure maths at Stony Brook University, NY in 2007 and later she joined the SAMBa CDT at Bath where she completed a second PhD in statistics in 2021. For several years, Emiko also worked as an actuary with Hymans Robertson LLP, a pensions consultancy in Glasgow. Her main research interests are in spatial statistics and image analysis, particularly, understanding theoretical aspects and developing new methodologies. Outside of work she is kept busy by her two children, but she also loves travelling, good food and a nice cup of coffee.
The Institute for Mathematical Innovation was launched in 2015 with an outward facing vision in the field of data analytics and mathematical modelling. During the last five years IMI has become a recognised leader in applied mathematics, assisting industry, researchers and public sector organisations with solving complex real-world challenges.
